Acid rain- Is rain or other precipitation that is acidic. It can have negative effects on plants, aquatic animals and infrastructure. This is caused by carbon dioxide, sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxides being put in the atmosphere.
Acidic- means acid or containing acid
Atmosphere- Layer of gasses, held in place by gravity and surround a material body of sufficient mass. This includes oxygen used by us, animals and plants. Without atmosphere we would be subject to solar ultraviolet radiation.
Air Pollution- Chemicals, particulate matter, or biological materials emitted into air. This causes harm or discomfort to humans or other living organisms and natural environment. This causes of deaths like aggravated asthma, emphysema, lung and heart diseases, and respiratory allergies
Carbon dioxide (CO2) - Is a chemical compound composed of two oxygen atoms combined in a single carbon atom. Used by plants during the day for photosynthesis but not at night, High levels are toxic an can cause: dizziness, headaches, visual/ hearing dysfunction and unconsciousness.
Carbon monoxide- is a colorless, odorless, non-irritating but very poisonous gas. This is caused by unburned compounds such as: fuel, coal and wood. Car exhaust are major sources of carbon monoxide. This can cause widening of blood vessels, act as anti-inflammatory and cause nerve damage.
Chemicals- can be a liquid, gas or solid. Some are harmful and some are not.
Global warming- Is continuing rise in average temperature of earths atmosphere and oceans. with greater than 90% certainty, scientists have determined that most of it is caused by human activities that increase concentrations of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. An increase in global temperature will cause sea levels to rise and will change the amount and pattern of precipitation, and a probable expansion of subtropicaldeserts.[12] Warming is expected to be strongest in the Arctic and would be associated with continuing retreat of glaciers, permafrost and sea ice. Other likely effects of the warming include more frequent occurrence of extreme weather events including heatwaves, droughts and heavy rainfall events, species extinctions due to shifting temperature regimes, and changes in agricultural yields. Warming and related changes will vary from region to region around the globe, though the nature of these regional changes is uncertain. In a 4 °C world, the limits for human adaptation are likely to be exceeded in many parts of the world, while the limits for adaptation for natural systems would largely be exceeded throughout the world. Hence, the ecosystem services upon which human livelihoods depend would not be preserved. ( brought to you by http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Global_warming )
Green house effect- Is process which thermal radiation is absorbed by planet surface and redirected in all directions. This process is what warms surface and core of the earth. Human activities increase this warming by emitting carbon dioxide.
*green house gas- Is gas in atmosphere that absorbs and emits radiation within thermal infrared range. Theses gasses greatly affect temperature of earth.
Green Products- Removing toxic chemicals harmful to us and environment. Also using recycled material to reduce the use of natural resources.
HHO booster- An echo friend product used to reduce amount of fuel used by consumers. This process uses water and electricity to create hydrogen. This reduces emissions, increases gas mileage, increases horsepower and helps burn all of fuel to reduce emissions.
Nitrogen Oxides- Is very harmful to humans but used by plants and to help create ozone.
Ozone- is pale blue in color and f boiled could explode when below -193 c it forms a violet-black solid. The upper layer of ozone protects us from the suns rays but lower ozone is harmful to humans.
Pollutants- the introduction of contaminants into a natural environment that causes instability, disorder, harm or discomfort to the ecosystem i.e. physical systems or living organisms. Pollution can take the form of chemical substances or energy, such as noise, heat or light. Pollutants, the elements of pollution, can be foreign substances or energies or naturally occurring; when naturally occurring, they are considered contaminants when they exceed natural levels
Precipitation- Happens when water vapor condenses, known as ( Rain, sleet, snow and hail)
Recycle- process of taking waste and turning into new products to prevent waste of useful materials. This reduces landfill use which in return reduces greenhouse gas.
Renewable energy- comes form natural resources such as: sunlight, wind, rain, tides and geothermal heat. Such systems as solar panels, wind generators and solar hot water heaters all help use renewable energies.
Solar Panels- Uses suns natural sun arrays to collect energy which is used today to power homes
sulfur dioxide-is released by volcanoes and in some industrial processes. Coal and Petroleum when burned create sulfur dioxide also can be found in acid rain. Inhaling sulfur dioxide is associated with increased respiratory symptoms and disease, difficulty in breathing, and premature death. Also may be linked to premature birth.
Wind generator- A wind turbine that uses wind energy to create power.
Water run off- rain or other water that may contain chemicals/ pesticides that go through street drains, lakes, oceans, rivers and creeks
