Global warming- Is continuing rise in average temperature of earths atmosphere and oceans. with greater than 90% certainty, scientists have determined that most of it is caused by human activities that increase concentrations of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. An increase in global temperature will cause sea levels to rise and will change the amount and pattern of precipitation, and a probable expansion of subtropicaldeserts. Warming is expected to be strongest in the Arctic and would be associated with continuing retreat of glaciers, permafrost and sea ice. Other likely effects of the warming include more frequent occurrence of extreme weather events including heatwaves, droughts and heavy rainfall events, species extinctions due to shifting temperature regimes, and changes in agricultural yields. Warming and related changes will vary from region to region around the globe, though the nature of these regional changes is uncertain. In a 4 °C world, the limits for human adaptation are likely to be exceeded in many parts of the world, while the limits for adaptation for natural systems would largely be exceeded throughout the world. Hence, the ecosystem services upon which human livelihoods depend would not be preserved. ( brought to you by wikipedia= http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Global_warming )
What is global warming and how does it effect us? Please take a few minutes to watch our short video!
In earlier years, we fixed everything and everything could be fixed. In this day and age, the world has become a throw it away and buy it new! This is causing our landfills to fill up at a rapid rate and in return emitting harmful gasses into our atmosphere. These gasses, along with others are causing many health problems for us and our children. Landfill gasses and others are causing the natural process of global warming to speed up.
Reasons to start greener living:
A) Natural resources are limited and becoming exhausted:
B) Pollutants are causing:
- Acid Rain
- Smog
- Depletion of the ozone layer
- Global Warming
- Climate Change
- Poisoned water, food and the air we breath
C) Air Pollution is causes:
- Cancer
- Heart Disease
- Lung Disease
- Astma
- Pnemonia and its complications
- Bronchitis
- Emphysema
- Respiratory Allergies
- Headaches and Migraines
D) Children are smaller and take less pollutants to affect them. Pollutants cause birth defects, asthma, lower birth rates and so much more.
E) What are the benifits of going green?
- Saves you money and the government is giving Tax Money for people who switch to reneable energy sources. These include: Solar panels and wind turbines.
- Renewable energy is less harmful to the earth and saves you money by breaking away from power companies.
- Hepls reduce water comtamination, food contamination and provides cleaner air for us and the plants.
- It reduces health risks such as birth defects, diseases, cancer, and more.
- It increases plant growth, texture and quality of food.
- Reduces global warming, green house effect, acid rain, smog and gasses emitted from landfills.( click here for deffinitions)
- Recycling uses less natural resources to make new products.
